Originally from Ireland, James Berkery is a London-based choreographer and movement director working internationally across film, television, theatre, music video, and commercial.

His work ranges from high-concept dance to character-led physicality, responsive, visually driven, and completely unique to each project's tone and world.

His work has been featured across BBC, ITV, MTV, Universal Music, VICE, PAPER Magazine, The 405 and VOGUE Italia. Clients include IKEA, Sonos, Film4 and the BFI.

James was Movement Director on the feature film The Wolf, The Fox & The Leopard, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and is set for a US theatrical release in February 2026, starring Jessica Reynolds. His work focused on developing primal, animalistic movement, later integrated with a live pack of wolves.

He was also Movement Director on the feature film CENSOR, starring Niamh Algar (Hulu), choreographer for the M3GAN feature film premiere, choreographer of the BAFTA-nominated toni_with_an_i (BFI/BBC), and resident choreographer on STING’s US tour of The Last Ship.

James' directorial debut, CAZELEON was a finalist for the 2023 Iris Micro Short Award and an official selection of the BAFTA-qualifying Iris Prize LGBTQ+ Film Festival.

Alongside his choreographic practice, James has performed across film and television, with screen credits including JOY (Netflix), House of the Dragon (HBO), Black Mirror (Netflix), Enola Holmes 2 (Netflix), Napoleon (Apple TV+), The Winter King (ITVX), Will (TNT Drama), and Been So Long (Netflix).

James is a member of One Dance UK, Equity and the Movement Directors Association and an ambassador for Dancers’ Career Development.
